Class Exercise: Situating an Image in Its Context(s)

  1. Pick one poster from DIVEDCO that interests you. You can find one in Biblioteca Digital Puertorriqueña, or also via Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.
  2. Take a few minutes to really look at the image. Read any caption/descriptive text provided.
  3. What questions could you ask that would help you place this image in a context (historical, political, social, or otherwise)? Write down at least three questions you could ask.
  4. Pick one of these questions. Try to find a source that will help you answer, or at least more thoughtfully consider, your question. Refer to the resources provided in the research guide, including in the Primary Sources, Articles, and/or Books tabs, to help you try and locate a source.
