National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity collecting and analyzing data related to education. It provides includes many resources, including the Digest of Education Statistics and State Education Data Profiles.

The mission of the National Information Center for Higher Education Policymaking and Analysis is to provide state policymakers and analysts timely and accurate data and information that are useful in making sound higher education policy decisions. You can find comparative data for states and counties, and useful contextual information.
New York City Department of Education InfoHub
The New York City Department of Education makes available a variety of data about NYC schools and students, including test results, graduation results, demographic information, enrollment and attendence rates, New York State Report Cards, and School Quality Reports.
