CalEnviroScreen is a mapping tool that helps identify California communities that are most affected by many sources of pollution, and where people are often especially vulnerable to pollution’s effects. It uses environmental, health, and socioeconomic information to produce scores for every census tract in the state. The scores are mapped so that different communities can be compared. An area with a high score is one that experiences a much higher pollution burden than areas with low scores. CalEnviroScreen ranks communities based on data that are available from state and federal government sources. Training videos are available.

The CDC's National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (Tracking Network) brings together health data and environment data from national, state, and city sources and provides supporting information to make the data easier to understand. The Tracking Network has data and information on environments and hazards, health effects, and population health. On the Tracking Network, you can use the Data Explorer to view interactive maps, tables, and charts; view Info by Location for county level data snapshots; and visit state & local tracking websites.

This online mapping tool brings together federal, state, and city data on a broad range of issues critical to the well-being of all New Yorkers. A tutorial is available.

The environmental justice atlas documents and catalogues social conflict around environmental issues. The EJ Atlas collects stories of communities struggling for environmental justice from around the world. It aims to make these mobilization more visible, highlight claims and testimonies and to make the case for true corporate and state accountability for the injustices inflicted through their activities. It also attempts to serve as a virtual space for those working on EJ issues to get information, find other groups working on related issues, and increase the visibility of environmental conflicts.

EJSCREEN is an environmental justice mapping and screening tool that provides EPA with a nationally consistent dataset and approach for combining environmental and demographic indicators. EJSCREEN users choose a geographic area; the tool then provides demographic and environmental information for that area. All of the EJSCREEN indicators are publicly-available data. EJSCREEN provides a way to display this information and includes a method for combining environmental and demographic indicators into EJ indexes. A user guide and tutorial videos are available.

Earthjustice created this national map highlighting areas of potential fracking, areas of active/potential fracking, and fracking accidents.

Legal and technical experts from
Earthjustice, the Environmental Integrity Project, and partner organizations located and analyzed the data disclosures from the 738 coal ash units in 43 states and Puerto Rico that have reported information in compliance with federal coal ash safeguards since 2015.

Mapping for Environmental Justice creates easy-to-use, publicly available maps that paint a holistic picture of intersecting environmental, social, and health impacts experienced by communities across the US. MEJ’s maps display the environmental, public health, and socioeconomic disparities communities experience, enabling advocates and policymakers to identify disproportionately impacted areas. This cumulative impacts approach combines this data into a single indicator of cumulative environmental justice impact. So far they have created maps for Virginia and Colorado.

Mapping Inequality introduces viewer to the records of the Home Owners' Loan Corporation on a scale that is unprecedented. Here you can browse more than 150 interactive maps and thousands of "area descriptions." These materials afford an extraordinary view of the contours of wealth and racial inequality in Depression-era American cities and insights into discriminatory policies and practices that so profoundly shaped cities that we feel their legacy to this day.
