The Articles search is a federated search of all the journals, magazines and newspapers subscribed to by Columbia University Libraries, as well as e-books, dissertations, government documents, and some online manuscript material.

Once you have done an initial keyword search, there is a variety of limits that can be applied to the results, such as publication date, content type, subject terms and language.  Newspaper articles are initially excluded by default; this can be changed once a search has been done.

The Articles search finds a large number of results, but it does have some limitations. The results only show the title and author of each article, and there's no option to view a full record.  To discover whether an article is relevant to your topic, you are limited to looking at the article's title or going to the full text for more information.

There is another federated search available, known as Find Articles (or Summon) that searches the same data as the Articles search, but has some more advanced search features.
